First Performance of the Schuhplattler Group at Kirchweih Harvest Festival (from the Monthly Progress in 1976)

Cultural Group – November 1976

First, I feel we should be very grateful for the beautiful weather we had for our annual Kirchweih Harvest Festival. Also there are so many people I feel deserve a big “THANK YOU” that it is impossible to write all of them down. First of all, thanks to the beautiful young people of our Children’s, Intermediate, Teen and Schuhplattler groups. The Schuhplattler group did an excellent job, since this was their first performance as an organized group and many thanks go to their instructor, Mr. Andy Weyershaeuser and helper John Blank, Jr.

Our Kirchweih dance group was the biggest we have had in our new club house with 18 couples. Thanks to Ernie Gehlert “Geldherr”, who did a fine job on the Kirchweih Spruch and a special thanks to Miss Anna Marie Kempf, our first Kirchweih Queen, who did an excellent job representing our club and a fine job on her German speech.

Our performance could not have been possible without our instructresses, Hanni, Rita, Irene, Loni, Kathy and helpers, Marie C. and Marie M. Very special thanks to them.

Our donators for Kirchweih strausses were: Mr. Anton Apel, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Toni Heirbacher. We would like to thank them for their kindness.

Also the Heimatklänge and their leader, -John Galgon, who were cooperative as usual and our 2 accordion players John Caporaletti, Jr. and Haidy Krueger. Many thanks to them.

This article may seem filled with thanks to all, but only someone like myself can appreciate the time and effort that goes into an affair of this nature. I cannot thank these people enough.

And to close, my very special thanks go to “My” dancers for the beautiful arrangement of flowers and the plaque presented to me on Friday and the lovely corsage of flowers presented to me on Sunday. It is very much appreciated and also the beautiful performances you gave on all three days. Things like this make it all worthwhile.

I cannot close without thanking the Kirchweih Committee for their excellent job, and most of all the parents of the various groups.

Thank You.

Antonia Kreutzer
