Though the German Hungarians began dancing some Schuhplattler dances in the late 1960s, the official formation of the group took place in 1976. So in 2026 we celebrate the 50th Anniversary.
The German Hungarian Schuhplattler Emblem (1980)

We discussed the need of branding our Schuhplattler group with a logo that could grab our audienceโs attention and make a lasting impression when we performed. I decided to design a buck on the logo to depict the Eastern Alps where the Schuhplattler originated. The logo would be embroidered onto a patch which would be sewn onto the crosspiece of the Hosentrager (suspenders). The outer edge of the logo would have red cross stitching, which would match the girlโs red Dirndls which were made by Toni Kreutzer and other club women. The name of our Schuhplattler group was clearly displayed in a semi-circle around the deerโs antlers. Over the years the logo became the U.G.H. Schuhplattlerโs brand identity by being displayed on mugs and tee shirts and used on social media platforms and business cards.

50th Anniversary of the Schuhplattlers Emblem (2026)

The number 50 held up in the antlers of the deer just as our dancing traditions as a club are upheld by each generation of dancers. The original red stitching remains keeping our club colors connected to our Tracht and our identity. But the colors are joined by gold lettering of the name of the club celebrating this golden anniversary.
Using the 1980 logo as a basis, Kristen Reiter developed the 50th Anniversary update to the emblem. Kristen has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Temple University Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She is a member of our dance groups. She has also used her talents to create art for use on our social media and website; designed the gold, silver and bronze medals given to the winners at the 30. Gaufest; and drew new art of the Gauverband’s famous Wanderpreis that was featured on the 30. Gaufest Festbook cover.
โI am proud to help design the logo for the United German Hungarian Schuhplattlersโ 50th anniversary. Hereโs to continuing a proud tradition with friends and family.โ
