The dancers have been buzzing around preparing for a number of events. 2026 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Schuhplattler Group and while no special event is planned at this time, we hope to celebrate all year sharing history, and photos and documents from the archive. Though winter may be chilly, we hope these upcoming events will be warm and inviting.
First up, they will be performing for Die Heimatklänge on February 28 for the band’s 70th Anniversary. What an honor! Sorry to any slowpokes who did not reserve early, as this historic event is sold out. If you need to see a bit of dancing that day, they will be performing some Schuhplattler at the German Society Bierfest that same afternoon.
Next up is the Mid-Atlantic Jugend Einzel which our club is hosting at the Vereinigung Erzgebirge. This event on March 14 is geared toward the children’s dance competition but also makes for a nice day out, with food and drink available for adults as well.
While we do not have a dedicated room block for this event we suggest the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Warminster-Horsham.
That same evening is our annual HK Night at a new location this year. Miss out on reservations for the HK 70th? See the band at our HK Night on March 14! Reservation and payment for the Einzel and the HK Night can now be all made online!
The German Hungarians, including our members, dancers, and officers, bid a fond farewell to the Austrian Village, which recently closed its doors. An institution in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, the only thing the AV gave us more than many, many schnitzels is memories too numerous to count. Thank you to the Burits family—we will all miss going over to “Gottlieb’s.”
Have you heard? We are going to Germany! The group will be traveling to Germany in July 2026 to compete against the best Bavarian dance groups.
We will be holding a fundraising Beer-BQ on April 11 at the Fireside Inn in Feasterville. Join us—the nationally ranked second-place dance group—for beer, wine, well drinks, and plenty of BBQ food. There will also be raffles, prizes, and activities for children. Contact Michelle McFadden (215-595-3245) for tickets.
We can provide from two to six or more couples to perform at your festivals, banquets, restaurants, clubs or other events.
