It’s been a while since we had a general update about news and goings on in the club and community. Everyone is busy and finding willing reporters for some of our past events and outings has been difficult. It would be nice if folks when asked just said no instead of having no response at all.
Anyway, lets progress.

The dance group hosted the Mid-Atlantic Jugend Einzel back in March on the 14. Many a kiddo did a good dance and some nice photos were taken by Bobbi-Ann Lineman.
That same evening HK Night was held this time at the VE (as was the morning event). While we miss the old Village it was wonderful to see the Burits gang in attendance. Our events have always had a degree of family interaction but nature is such that this goes in cycles. I saw many an Omi holding babes. I saw uncles and aunts dancing with nieces and nephews. I saw friends sharing drinks or polkas or both. It seemed many new friends were made, old ones maintained, and smiles were infectious. Was it just me?

While some folks were at the Gauverband Delegates Meeting our Schuhplattlers were dancing in the street for Brauhaus Schmitz Maifest on May 2. A cooler day, sweaters and jackets were seen in the social media photos. Looks like a good time was had by all including the Die Heimatklรคnge

The Penny Party was SOLD OUT on June 4. No reports from the Women’s Auxiliary. It’s been radio silent but we hope it went well.

First German Sport Club Phoenix has been celebrating 100 years in 2026. They held a members only banquet in April in their recently renovated hall. On June 6, however they held a Summerfest inviting the community to participate. Philly German Brass provided the music. They had food trucks, as well as German food from their kitchen, soccer games and activities for kids. Our dance group was invited to perform and we had a group with a nice showing both of dancers and members that came to celebrate and or be seen. After the Brass band a DJ was set to start but most of our gang dispersed when the storm clouds rolled in. Overall it was a nice afternoon outside in our old neighborhood. Congratulations Phoenix! When it comes to the 100 club you might say “Hip Hip Hurrah, Phoenix ist da!”

The youngest of dancers and their families will be headed to Mid-Atlantic Kinderfest in Fleetwood, PA at the Evergreen. This isn’t restricted by age group if any of our more seasoned folks would like to attend. Back where it all started the Auerhahn Schuhplattler Verein is hosting this year. Music is by Joe Kroboth. Admission is free for those under 21 and $10 for adults. Immediately following there will be a Sommerfest open to the public with music by the Alpenlanders

While the World Cup is on the Preisplattler team is preparing for the Bayerischer Lรถweย which is on July 18 in Pullach near Mรผnchen. It is hosted by the DโHochleitner Pullach. Many members and committee people are working hard on the travel arrangements. The dancers are getting Tracht together, and practicing as well. We wish them luck.
