Match Report – Women draw FC Storm on 11/03 by Steve Paul

We traveled out to Limerick to meet “FC Storm”. They are sitting in the top third of the standings and we knew nothing about this squad. We started the match at a high paced game as we typically do, and they matched us for the majority of the first half. Both keepers came up with a number of quality saves. We had a scramble in our box in the 41 minute which was tapped in that gave the Storm a 1:0 lead at the break.

The second half started out with equal time of possession and the game was played at a high-level pace throughout the match. We generated more scoring opportunities in the second half and took control of the match midway through the second half. Our break came on a corner kick by Lizzie Eisele which saw Maggie Daeche direct a beautiful header in the corner to tie the score at the 72nd minute mark. We were pushing for the winner but were denied on many shots and both keepers played an excellent match. We came away with a road tie at 1:1 which was fitting for the match. It was a very enjoyable game to watch as a spectator.

We thank our fans that made the trek out to Limerick on a Sunday morning and appreciate their support.
