Let’s welcome back the women’s major squad from our winter break for the Spring 2025 Season.
Last week 3/31 was our first match of the Spring. We left with a forfeit win over Huntington Valley to start the Spring with one win and zero losses.
Week 2 – 4/6 we were matched up against a familiar foe in Lower Southampton at Temple Ambler. The game was played in a slight mist with some sloppy conditions but both teams were ready to play. We took control of the game at the start with some dominating ball control and an aggressive attack. The Lower South keeper came up with many quality saves but finally in the 22 minute Corinne Reninnger took an excellent cross from Becca Margolis to take a shot from 20 yards out. The ball hit the lower left corner to start the scoring for the German Hungarians. We finished the first half ahead 1:0. The second half started out with Lower South putting some pressure on us with our keeper Cassidy Dawson coming up with a number of quality saves to keep us in front. At the 63 minute mark we took back control of the match and started to wear down our opponents with our fitness and our speed on the front line. Corrine Reninnger took another beautiful play from Kara Waskiewicz in our midfield. Reninnger beat the center back and keeper for a 2:0 score at the 74 minute mark. At the 81 minute mark Becca Margolis took a shot from 25 yards out and buried a class goal in the upper corner for a 3:0 score which ended the game.
Our midfield deserved much credit for controlling the game with their relentless defense and pushing the pace for our attack. Cassidy Dawson earned the clean sheet and shut out in goal with nine saves.
We cannot thank our fan base enough for the support they give our squad at 10:00 on Sunday mornings week in and week out.
Good start to the spring at two wins and zero losses.
