Andy Weyershaeuser began playing soccer as a youth player in 1965 at the United German Hungarians. By 1975 he moved up to the Juniors where along with his teams he brought home 3 State Cup Championships, 2 League titles and was selected various times to league select teams. From 1974 through 1977 Weyershaeuser played for George Washington High School Starting Varsity for 3 years and twice being named 2nd Team All Public. It was in 1977 that he moved up to the Major Division team where he played until 1982. Never one to stop playing too early Andy played with our U.G.H. Old Timers from 1986-1989.
As a coach, he began at Horsham soccer club first from 1986-1988 and later again from 1992-1995. He then coached the U.G.H. 82’s to 2 League Titles between 1995-2000. From 1997 through 2010 Weyershaeuser coached the 5 year nationally ranked U.G.H. Fire taking them to 9 League titles and 1 state cup. He also presided over the team for two Ryder Cups, a MAPPS Cup and traveled with the team to numerous showcase tournaments. Beginning in 2007 through 2014 Andy coached the U.G.H. Under-23’s to 3 state cups, 2 league titles, 1 regional quarterfinals appearance and 1 national cup quarterfinals appearance. From 2011 to present Weyershaeuser coached the U.G.H. Hammers including to date 3 league titles. Over the years, he served as ICSL select coach and Keystone Games Coach. From 2001-2006 Andy was part of a staff that took the U.G.H. Elite Women to 4 national cup final fours.
Unforgettable is the period from 1995 through 2016 during which Andy served the United German Hungarians as Soccer Director. He increased our program from 3 adult teams and 1 youth team to 7 adult teams and 17 youth teams. During his time as director he served as the ICSL Rep, on the ICSL Grievance committee, and was the host chair of the USASA National Cup finals that our club hosted in 2000 & 2002. He started the pee wee program at the club in 2000 and the U.G.H. Soccer Camp in 1990. Under his tenure as director the German Hungarians returned victorious to the national final four winning the 1999 USASA Open Cup.
Andy has served the United German Hungarians in various ways over his lifetime including Bar Chairman and various areas whenever needed. He also served as our Vice-President for 16 years under presidents, Werner Fricker Jr., and Bill Galgon. The reason we give you this prestigious resume is to recognize and announce that on Saturday, May 13, Andrew Weyershaeuser will be inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame at their annual Banquet. We are proud of Andy and wish him congratulations!
