2021-2022 Major Women Mid-Season Recap, by Michelle McFadden

We were definitely excited heading into the 2021-2022 season. We were excited for a full post COVID-19 league year without the concern or worry for any restrictions.

That being said, our first week was not off to the best start. Unfortunately, our starting keeper was going back to school and left us without one of the most important positions for our first game. We suffered an unwanted loss with two of our field players in next. Within the next week, we were lucky enough to find, Holly Bowser, to fill the important role of goal-keeper and she’s been doing a fantastic job since joining the squad!

On top of finding a new goalie, we had four other new players join the squad this Fall, Jasmine Bishop (midfield/forward), Maggie Daeche (defense), Shannon Fisher (defense) and Erin Cox (midfield). Our four new players have been a great addition to the team, either adding to our strong defensive line, or scoring goals to help achieve our most recent wins.

While we are so happy to have new and young fresh legs join the squad every year, we’re happy that we had nineteen returning players this Fall. That core keeps our team alive and is truly the reason why new players want to join. The statement “blessed with the best,” easily applies to the squad. We would not be where we are in the standings or the comfort level of having subs weekly if it weren’t for the girls who have stuck around for multiple years.

We’re heading into a three-week bye with the record of 4-1-1 and sitting on top of the standings.
