It was 1992 and the Michael and Kathi Noel family brought sons Jason and Brian to the club and the dance group. The goal was for the boys to learn about their culture through dancing as well as being a part of the social aspects of the United German Hungarians.
By the next year Kathi Noel joined up in the Cultural and Schuhplattler Group herself. She participated in the Kirchweih shows from 1992 through to the end of that era of the floor show. Today, Jason remains active in our dance group along with his daughter Evie, and Brian and his young children participate from time to time as well showing that Michael and Kathi’s 1992 goal has transcended a generation!
Kathi then served as Entertainment Chairman between 1997 and 2009 and under three presidents. She was a member of the 19. Gaufest feasibility committee and the Hotel & Entertainment Chair for the 19. Gaufest in 2003 in Philadelphia.
Elected to Board of Governors in 2005, Kathi was awarded our club’s gold Ehrenwürdig pin at the 100th Anniversary Banquet in 2010. Kathi Noel also served as the Board of Governors secretary from 2013 until just recently in 2024.
Under Bill Galgon Kathi served the finance committee and worked on special events and festivals for the club. As Financial Secretary she has worked with our accounting firm to pay quarterly taxes and year end taxes since 2013.
Outside of the German Hungarians Kathi was Recording Secretary for the Steuben Day Observance Association from 2014 through 2016 when she took over as treasurer of this organization. Also, in 2016 she became the Treasurer & Secretary for the Noel Soccer Foundation. She has a Master of Business Administration degree from Temple University.
In 2024, at an organizational meeting of the Board of Governors immediately following the Annual General Membership Meeting, the Board of Governors elected Kathi Noel as the newest member of our Executive Board. Taking over from Michael Wagner as the Treasurer of the United German Hungarians, we all know Kathi has the knowledge, the skills, and most importantly the passion for our club to do a phenomenal job in her new role.
Kathi, thank you for your many years of service to our club, and more importantly for your friendship. We wish you luck as our new Treasurer!
