On Saturday, December 14th, the United German Hungarian Schuhplattlers had the privilege of being part of the festivities at Christmas Village in Philadelphia. It was a beautiful sunny day in Love Park, but quite chilly creating a truly festive atmosphere. It was perfect for enjoying a festive mug filled with spiced wine or hot chocolate.

Despite the cold, our dancers performed beautifully for the large crowd that had gathered to watch. A large contingent of our members and friends were on hand to watch our dancers perform. For their last dance, Stern Polka, they were joined by Kurt, Kirsten, Michael K, and Erik from our children’s group.
After the performance, our dancers rushed to get their, coats, hats, and gloves back on. Our dear friends from the Auerhahn Schuhplattler Verein were on Hand to take the stage when our group was done. We had a fun time catching up with them.
Many of us headed over to Brauhaus Schmitz after the fun at Christmas Village. We enjoyed an evening of fabulous food, drink, and camaraderie. We had a large group enjoying each other’s company including both our younger and older generation.

Our dear friend Doug Hager joined us for a drink and thanked us for spending the evening at Brauhaus. He commented that it was nice to see us all together. Our president Janet commented that it was a combination U.G.H. 1.0 and 2.0. We are so lucky that our younger and older generation have been able to maintain this relationship and it is the key to our success.
At the end of a wonderful day we were ready for our our next event on Sunday: our beloved Christmas party featuring our children’s group.
Wishing all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
