Among Our Members – April 2017

After recently reporting that Liz Brenner finally had her back operation and was recuperating nicely, she fell and broke her hip. After surgery, she is now finally recuperating from all these incidents and we certainly wish her well. Get Well Soon, Liz! Remember, a few months ago, I reported that babies would be coming in the new year. Well they have started coming. Katie Tokarski Wills attended the Mid-Atlantic Competition with her new son, Declan and her father Ed attended our anniversary banquet recently. We were happy to see all three of them and hope to see the rest of the family at future events. Congratulations to Katie, her husband Mike and big brother Aiden too! Ann Truppay recently became a great grandmother! Pippa Rose Ratcliffe was born to Ann’s granddaughter, Elise and her husband Jeff on March 25. Congratulations to all and to the baby’s grandparents Michael and Mary Truppay. Christopher Deely, age 7 and member of our Cultural Group recently joined a sled hockey league for the handicapped and is enjoying this activity very much. Keep us informed, Christopher, we’d like to know how your team makes out. Many of our members take steps outside our organization to serve the greater community and in doing so they reflect prestige of our own club. Congratulations are in order to Michelle Paul who was elected as the General Secretary of the United Soccer League of Pennsylvania. We wish you luck and know you will make the club and the league proud. Allysa Reiter recently took a trip to Doylestown Hospital to treat an infection. She’s back out on the town now & we wish her well. A group of men and women attended the 144th Anniversary Banquet of the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein and the Anniversary Lunch of the Cannstatter Frauen Verein which had to be postponed for a week because of the snow. We all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to celebrating with our friends from all organizations. Sunday, March 19 was a nice Sunday at the clubhouse. We held our Annual AGM and it was quite productive. We were happy to see the core faces of our organization in attendance, though we wished more of our membership would have been there! Members of all ages enjoyed the day together with lunch, refreshments and social moments that make our club what it is.
