We mentioned last issue that John M Blank and Katie Palnik had various illnesses. They are both better now but have to take care in the future. We look forward to seeing them at the club and wish them both well.
Guenter Magin, Adam Herbert, and Florian Kempf all spent time in various hospitals with various issues. Florie and Adam are home now but my understanding is that Guenter is still hospitalized. Guys!, get well soon. We need you!
Congratulations Matthew Purcell of our 2000 Boys (Hammers) soccer team. Matthew was awarded the 2018 Union League of Philadelphia Good Citizenship Award.
Steve Paul, our club’s Vice-President was recently installed as a “Life Director,” in the Home Builders Association of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. He was also appointed as Builder Representative from Bucks/Mont for 2018 in the Pennsylvania Builders Association in Harrisburg. Congratulations, Steve! Keep on building!

Irene Borowitz Kronberger passed away suddenly on January 2, 2018. She was 75 years old and born in the German Community of Franztal in Syrmien Yugoslavia, immigrating with her mother Elizabeth Borowitz to the Philadelphia area in 1950. Her family was well known in Donauschwaben and German Hungarian circles. Irene danced with our Sport Club Dance Group in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1962 Irene married Albert Kronberger and they moved to Palmyra, New Jersey. Albert died in 2012 and Irene is survived by his 2 children and grandchildren. Albert and Irene were members of the Jehovah Witnesses and her funeral was held at their Kingdom Hall on January 6.
Anna J Weber passed away on January 2 at age 94 at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Adam Weber and they had been married for 51 years. Anna was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Karl and Marie Herbst. Anna graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in 1942. She lived for many years in Churchville. She was active as a young girl in the Sport Club Dance group and with our Women’s Auxiliary during the time her husband was active in various positions. Anna is survived by her children Edward (Leslie) Theresa Weinman (Neil), Constance Brady (Don), her daughter-in-law Rene and her husband Cy Karhnak, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph and her sister Mary Kinsch. Her funeral mass was at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Warrington
Our Deepest sympathy to Magda Paul and the Paul family on the death of Mario Bundenich, Magda’s friend who died on February 19 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mario was at our club quite often and especially enjoyed our dancers. His funeral was held in Florida where he was buried.
Michael J Ballasy died on February 23 at home surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. Mike was the loving husband of 62 years to Rosina Ballasy. He was born in Philadelphia the son of the late Mathias and Appolonia. He loved music and enjoyed playing drums and was a passionate fan of the flyers and the eagles. He was a lifelong member of the German Hungarians serving as president of the Sport Club and various other club positions. He was a disc jockey for WRDV-FM in Hatboro. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Michael, Frank (Karen) and Stephen (Joyce), his granddaughters and grandsons, his nephews Paul and Joseph Ballasy, and his nieces Irene and Evie. Many members of this family were involved in either soccer or cultural activities at our club. Mike’s Funeral mass was held at St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland., PA.
Congratulations to Bob Wilkinson who was named as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach for Moravian College. They are eager to have Bob lead their men’s soccer program into the future.
