On Saturday, March 15th, we made our way up to Seaford, New York, for this year’s Mid-Atlantic Jugend Einzel. Just as in years past, the doors opened at 9:00am to welcome all dancers and guests to start getting ready and to enjoy a nice continental breakfast. Participating from the United German Hungarians was Charlotte and Joey Galgon, Kurt Blank, Michael K. Fricker, and Evie Noel.Â
As the judges took the floor, some of the younger kids started to get a little nervous, but they all performed very well, and more importantly they came off the floor with big smiles on their faces!
Many will be participating in the Einzel at this year’s Gaufest, so it is definitely great practice for them to get more comfortable performing in from of a crowd and getting feedback on what they should work on before Gaufest comes. I personally love seeing how all the Jugend progress from year to year at this event because so much can change in a year when they start to learn more technique!
After all the participants danced, they had a buffet lunch prepared. Once everyone ate, Diane Meck led Gauplattler and a small dance workshop before awards were presented.
A huge congratulations to our Evie Noel for placing 2nd in the 12-15 age category!
Thank you to our hosts, Gemuetlichen Enzianer, for a lovely day! And thank you to all the supporters that made the trip up to New York to watch all the kids dance!
