Dear Members and Friends,
We are truly grateful for the success our club has enjoyed these past seven decades. During that time, generations of immigrants, their children, grandchildren, friends, and supporters from all walks of life have honored the language, customs and traditions of our ancestors; remembered our history; and reveled in that special brand of Trenton Donauschwaben camaraderie that has always tied us together. The next generation has stepped up and is now leading the way and we couldn’t be happier. We’re sure you’ll agree it’s all the reason we need to commemorate a milestone anniversary in a big way. In this our 70th year, ladies and gentlemen, we plan to do just that.
On Saturday, October 24th, from 3 PM to 7 the founding of our club will be celebrated in grand style in the ballroom of the German American Society. Most of you know what a great place this is with lots of parking and a spacious hall we hope to fill to capacity. To make the event even more special, we’ve engaged the renowned Heimatklänge German American band for your dancing and listening pleasure and have asked the outstanding United German Hungarian Dance Group to perform too. This will be an extraordinary evening!
Tickets are $70 per person and $25 for those 5 to 12 years old. Youngsters under 5 are free. Tables of eight people are available if you would like to sit with friends and family. Included with your admission is a delicious buffet dinner featuring appetizers, pork Schnitzel, roasted chicken with all the usual sides and accompaniments including dessert. A children’s menu of chicken fingers and fries is available upon request. Tickets also include a complimentary chance to win one of several gift card prizes. Please use the order form when purchasing tickets so we have all needed information.
To mark this important occasion, a commemorative booklet is planned. In it you will find interesting photos and historical information about the club along with the well wishes of your friends and fellow members, organizations and businesses. It’s a great way to show your support, memorialize loved ones, or just be part of the celebration in a very tangible way. We would be most appreciative if you asked friendly businesses or associates to participate too. Please reference the commemorative booklet order form for specifics.
Purchasing tickets and booklet ads will be done the old-fashioned way by sending a check to our clubhouse. Checks should be made out to Danube Swabian Association and sent to the Danube Swabian Association 127 Route 156 Yardville, NJ 08620 c/o 70th anniversary committee.
