Tanzfest
Our annual Tanzfest was held on Sunday, June 6th on a sunny, beautiful day. Our dancers, the Children’s Groups and the Schuhplattler Group performed throughout the afternoon. Together all performed the Grand March and the Stern Polka. The little children, Sasha Malofiy, Joey Reiter, Frankie Schiller, Kaylin Schiller, Michelle Paul, Danika Gottbrecht, Allysa Reiter, Michael Fricker, were really cute as most of them performed for the first time. The children enjoyed playing games and the Heimatklaenge’s music made for a festive mood. The food was delicious as usual and many enjoyed eating Bratwurst and Potato Salad.
We thank all who attended and especially those who brought their family and friends.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This event known as TANZFEST evolved from our MAYFEST which was first held in May of 1965. It was an early performance for the Children’s Cultural Group and became an annual performance date in either May or June each year from the 60s through the late 1990s. It often featured additional Schuhplattler, and Donauschwaben dance groups joining us from the local regions.
This piece was written and originally published in Monthly Progress, Volume 51, No. 8 – August 1996.
It has been re-published here in 2026 with minor edits.
