News & Comments: August, 2026

The Enzian Musikanten hailing from the Delaware Saengerbund will be joining us for Schwaben Abend II on August 21. It’s been on our to do list to hire this band for some time! They have been increasing in popularity over the last few years and we are happy to finally have them!

In 2008 after a 2006 trip to Bad Kohlgrup in Bavaria, six musicians joined together to form a little band like the local one they enjoyed listening to in Germany. By 2009 they had been playing at many of the Saengerbund events and named the group the โ€œEnzian Musikanten.โ€ Sometimes playing as two separate bands, a larger Blaskapelle, and a smaller Tanzlmusik group, they entertain throughout their region alongside the Enzian Volkstanzgruppe dance group. They also released in 2025 a CD which can also be heard on Spotify!

On our recent trip to Germany our group had the chance to visit the Kulturzentrum Haus der Donauschwaben in Haar which is located in Bavaria. A wonderful museum with great guides it was a highlight for many on the trip. One resource we were able to view there was 4 short videos that explain the Danube Swabians. Each video is approximately 100 seconds long.
