Slow Cooker Chuck Roast, by Kristen Reiter

This is a favorite of mine and Mike’s on a cozy day in. Our special tip is that you can serve with mashed potatoes, spätzle, rice, or bread!

Ingredients

  • 1 large chuck roast
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • ½ bag baby carrots
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • ½ packet ranch dressing seasoning mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 32 oz beef broth

Instructions

  1. Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your crock pot.
  2. Season the top with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. (Measure with your heart here—add as much or as little as you like.)
  3. Scatter the baby carrots over the roast.
  4. Sprinkle the onion soup mix, ranch seasoning, au jus mix, and brown gravy mix evenly over the carrots and meat.
  5. Stir the carrots around to help distribute the seasoning.
  6. Pour the beef broth over everything.
  7. Cover and cook:
    • Low: 8 hours
    • High: 4–4½ hours

Tip

Serve with mashed potatoes, spätzle, 

rice, or bread.
