A Review of Gaufest in Sandusky, OH by Karina Fricker & Michael Fricker

Recently we went on safari to one of our most frequently visited states in the union. The trip to Sandusky, OH was a car ride for some, a carpool for others, and I think a few may have flown in as well. I can't be sure but I do not think anyone came by train, and even fewer could have come by boat.

3rd Place in Gruppen Preisplatteln, 2023

SANDUSKY, OH - On Sunday, July 16 the United German Hungarians were announced as the 3rd place winner of the Gruppen Preisplatteln competition held at the 29. Gaufest hosted by STV Bavaria at the Kalahari Resort. Our team consisted of six couples.

Our group brings German folk dancing not only to the German American community, but to all our friends and neighbors regardless of ethnic background. We also attend and celebrate with local, regional, and national organizations of fellow dance groups and German-American Clubs & Societies.

In closing, I had a great time at my first Gaufest. I enjoyed getting to know some United German Hungarians better as well as making new friends both within the club and from other clubs. It was also nice to experience the fruits of hard work, discipline, and dedication.
