I’ve extolled the virtues and the history of the glorious red powder required in our cooking.
Sometime before that, I outlined the essential, maybe the only, items worthy of my dear father’s spice rack.

But last year, a new blend of spices hit the market. As soon as it was available, I just had to order some, and I have to tell you the price of shipping was 100% worth it. In addition, I am glad I opted for two bottles, because it’s been difficult not to sprinkle it on just about everything! Why wouldn’t you when it’s such a tasty blend of salt, sugar, paprika, white and black pepper, garlic, celery seed, ground onion, and red pepper? It’s been great on chicken! I’ve also given a few shakes into my goulash pot. The possibilities are endless!
That loquacious insect Jiminy Cricket said something like:
“When you get in trouble and you don’t know right from wrong, Give a little Sprinkle!”
Ok so I might have taken some creative license with the lyric there, but it worked for the play on words. And if you happen to be interested in trying the Schwaben Sprinkle yourself, you can give a little whistle to the folks out in Milwaukee to order. Just send a message to their page on Facebook and the wonderful Julie Patton will set you up!
P.S.
My goulash pot is actually already on the stove for tonight’s dinner.
The Sprinkle is right next to it, ready at a moment’s notice!
